2. Save the installation file QMC-win-setup.exe to your computer. Remember to make a note of where you saved the file. ![]() 2. Installing Q Media CenterAfter downloading the installation file "QMC -win-setup.exe", please open the folder containing this file. Double-click the installation file to start installing Q Media Center on your computer. Once the installation begins, you will be asked to read and accept our End User License Agreement prior to installing Q. Make sure you fully read and understand the agreement before going to the next step. After accepting the agreement, just follow the installation instructions on screen in order to choose a suitable location and other available options to install Q. (For most users the default installation options would work just fine) 3. Creating a Q ID (your "phone number")Before you can start using Q Media Center, you will need to setup an account by registering with QMC IPMedia. Your Q ID must be at least 5 characters in length. If the name is already in use by someone else you will have to try another name. Your E-Mail address will be used to e-mail you a new password in case you forget your existing password. We encrypt your password for security reasons and would not be able to retrieve the existing one. A new password will be automatically created and e-mailed to you. After selecting a Q ID and password, you will be asked to fill in personal information like First name, Last name and Display Name (that your contacts will see). Select a profile picture that your contacts will see when you converse with them. 4. Start using Q Media Center (Q )You should run the Audio / Video Setup before signing into Q for ensuring the best possible audio / video quality. You can fine tune the audio settings also from Call - window.
1) Go to Start > All Programs > QMC> Click QMC link to start QMC application
2) Log in with your Q ID and password (make sure you are connected to the Internet) ![]() Some users might see the Windows Security Alert window. Make sure you select "Unblock" to allow Q to function properly. ![]() When you log into Q for the first time, your Contact List will be empty. You will see three groups that are created for you: Family, Friends and Others. To add a contact, Select Activity > "Add Contact" option. Just provide the QMC ID of the contact and press OK button. Your contact will be added to a new group called "Pending Invitations". When your contact logs into Q, he/she will receive your invitation to add you as his/her contact. Once you are added to the contact list, you can start communicating with your friend. 5. Q-to-Q CallingWith Q, Q-to-Q calling is always free! Call your family and friends anywhere and talk to them for as long as you want. There is 1 Phone Line for Q Free Client, and 5 Phone Lines for Q Pro Client available
There are several ways to call your contacts:
* From the Contact List, simply right-click an Online Contact and select ”Place a Call” option. Or * Select Activity > Call > Call your Contact, and just select the contact you wish to call. You will not be able to place a call to users that are offline, hidden, blocked or Unreachable. Call Waiting (Q Pro): while you are in voice conversation with your buddy, you can receive another voice call. You will hear a "call waiting" tone to indicate that there is an incoming call. Once you accept the incoming call, your previous call will be placed on hold. You can switch between the two calls by using the toggle button. Call on Hold (Q Pro): While you are in voice conversation with first contact, you can put that call on hold to place a second call. To go back to the first call, hold the second call, and unhold the first call. Music on Hold: Q users placed on hold will hear music while on hold. Phone Book: Save your buddy information & enjoy 1-click dialing.
6. Last Contact RedialCall the last contact dialed with just 1 click.

Call Recording (Q Pro)You can record both Q-to-Q and Q-to-Phone calls with just one click. 8. DialOut™: Q-to-Phone CallingDialOut™ allows you to place calls to regular telephones (landlines or mobiles) all over the world for cheap. DialOut™ service lets you save money on calls from your PC to traditional landline & mobile telephones in over 200 countries and at a very low price, without compromising on quality. 9. DialOut™: Dialing InstructionsDialOut™ allows you to place calls to regular phones (landlines or mobiles) all over the world. You need to buy DialOut™ service credit to make a phone call. You can simply type a phone number using QuickDial and hit call button. Or use the dialpad from the Call Window. When making DialOut™ calls, keep these basic requirements in mind: When calling US numbers: "1" + "Number"
Examples: 1 2140001234 --- or --- 001 9720001234 When calling International numbers:
"011" + "Country Code " + "Number" Examples: 011 91 9818123456 (For calling India) --- or --- 011 86 10 62035479 (For calling China) WARNING: DialOut™ service does not support calls to any emergency number or emergency service (e.g. 911, E911 etc). Peer-to-Peer VideoWith Q's peer-to-peer video, you can now see your contacts, friends and family. Q video brings team together with just a click. To start a video session with your friends and family: 1) Select Activity > Start a Video Session option. 2) Your contacts window will open. Select a contact that is online. 3) A request will be sent to the selected contact to start the video session. 4) Once your contact accepts the request, both you & your contact will be able to see each other. 12. VideoMailVideoMail is simple, fast and free video email. It is just like sending an email - only better & easier - just record and send your message. The recipients get the message in the email. Send a thought, share a smile or just give someone a personal boost anytime you want. To send a videomail: 1) Select Activity > Video > Send Video Mail. 2) Video Mail window will open. 3) You can select Q contacts or enter email addresses in "Other Contacts" field. 4) Fill out the subject and message. 5) Select the "Start Recording" button to start recording the video message. Once 6) When you are done, just hit the "Send Video Mail" button. The recipients will get the video in the email. 13. FastFile Transfer (Send/Receive Files)Share files with your friends and family instantly. There are several ways to start a Peer-to-Peer file transfer. You can right-click an online Contact and select "Send a File". From the Instant Messaging window, simply select the "Send a File" option. ![]() You can also use the "Send a File" option under the Activity menu option: 1) Select Activity > Send a File > Send File to your Contact... 2) Your contacts window will open. Select a contact that is online (You cannot send a file to an offline contact) 3) A request will be sent to the selected contact. 4) The recipient will have to accept the request in order for file transfer to begin. Note: You can only send files to your contacts. Please check for any virus using a virus scanner software prior to sending a file to your contact. Also, please do not send illegal files to your contacts. 14. File Sharing (Q Pro)File Sharing lets you share files & folders with your friends. Create public and private views. Q uses the folder "Q Share", under "My Documents" for File Sharing. In this folder you will see 2 sub-folders - PUBLIC and PRIVATE. All files and folders under PUBLIC sub-folder are visible to all your contacts. Under PRIVATE sub-folder, you will see folders created for each of your contact. Files and folders added to these folders will only be visible to respective contacts.
To manage your File Sharing folder:
1) Go to Activity > Sharing > View my Shared folder
To start File Sharing with a contact:
1) Go to Activity > Sharing > View my Contact's Shared folder 2) Select the contact whose shared folder you'd like to see 3) Double-click the file you'd like to download 4) Files are downloaded to folder "Q Received Files" 15. Application Sharing (Q Pro)Application Sharing lets you share presentations, applications and documents instantly with your contacts.
To start sharing an application:
1) Go to Activity > Sharing > Share an Application 2) Select the contact you want to share an application with 3) Select the application you'd like to share. 4) Select the Ok button to send a request to your contact. 5) Once your contact accepts the request, you can start sharing the selected application. 16.Virus Scanning for File TransferWith Virus scanning, files are automatically scanned for viruses before being transferred. After you select the file you wish to send to your buddy, the file is scanned for viruses, on the sender's side. While the file is being scanned, sender will see the following screen:
![]() If any virus is found, a warning message is displayed to the sender. The file is not sent, protecting the recepient from potentially harmful virus. In this case, sender will see the following screen: ![]() Important Note:Ensure peace of mind for your trusted buddy by scanning the files for viruses before sending it out. Although QMC IPMedia has used commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that the anti-virus software will operate as intended, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the software is provided “AS IS” without warranties of any kind. QMC IPMedia has no obligation to provide any technical support or error corrections for the software. Also, the virus scanning is performed only at the user end that is sending the file and no check will be performed at the receiving end of the file transfer process. In no event shall QMC IPMedia be liable for consequential, special, incidental or indirect damages of any kind arising out this anti-virus software. 17. Conference Calling (Q Pro)Make conference calls with up to 10 other Q Users and talk to all of them at the same time. To start a Conference Call: 1) Select Activity > Call > Conference with your Contacts 2) "My Contacts " window will open showing your Q contacts. 3) Select the online buddies you want to add in the conference call 4) Select the Ok button at the bottom to start the conference. 18. 3-Way Calling (Ad-Hoc Conferencing for Peer-to-Peer Call) (Q Pro)With Q 3-Way calling (also called Ad-Hoc conferencing), you can add a contact to a Peer-to-Peer call or link 2 calls on ad-hoc basis.
There are two ways to start a 3-Way call:
1) While in a peer-to-peer call with a contact, you will see the add button. Select this button to add an online contact to the call. The call will be automatically converted to a conference.
2) You can also link 2 peer-to-peer calls together by selecting the link button. 19. Call LogsView a log of all incoming, outgoing and missed calls - at any time. Also see who called, at what time, on what day.
To view your call logs: 1) Go to Activity > Call > Call Logs. 2) You will see a list of incoming, outgoing and missed calls. You can also see the call distribution.
20. Do Not Disturb (DND)When "Do Not Disturb" (DND) is enabled, you will not receive any incoming calls. Use this feature when you do not want other users to call you.
21. Custom Ring Tones (Distinctive Ringing)Custom Ring Tones also called Distinctive Ringing, allows you to associate a custom ring tone (.wav, .mp3, .ogg file) with a call from your Q buddy.
To specify Custom Ring Tones:
1) From the Contact List, right-click a Contact and select ”Associate Ringtone ” option and 2) Select the audio file you'd like to use as a ring tone for that contact. Next time this contact calls you, the selected ring tone will be played. ![]() To delete a Custom Ring Tone for a contact:
Simply right click the contact and select the "Cancel Ringtone" option. ![]()
22.Whiteboard (Q Pro)Q Whiteboard lets you collaborate in real time with others using graphic information. In other words, it allows you to share a common “canvas” with your friend where both parties can draw on it simultaneously. --- OR ---
You can also start a Whiteboard Session by right clicking on a contact that is online.
2) An invitation will be sent to your contact ![]() 3) Once your contact accepts the invitation, you will be able to share a canvas with your contact. ![]()
23. Instant Messaging (IM)Instant Messaging allows you to send online messages to your Q contacts. To send a message to an online contact, simply right-click the contact and select "Send Online Message" option. Just type in the message in the text box provided and press the "Send" button.
